Telford and Wrekin #InTheLoop Bringing on-the-go recycling to Telford Town Park 9 in 10 people already recycle drinks packaging when at home. This is a fantastic achievement and should be celebrated. However, this figure drops to just 4 in 10 when out and about. This means that mountains of materials are going to waste every year. In 2019, this figure was estimated to be eight billion drinks bottles and cans in the UK alone! Our sixth on-the-go recycling campaign will bring a new, effective on-the-go recycling system to Telford Town Park to stop materials here going to waste. We’re running a six-month trial in collaboration with Telford and Wrekin Council to keep materials #InTheLoop and reduce waste. We will be: Telford Town Park is a hive of activity, right next to Telford Centre shopping centre. It’s an award-winning park and outdoor events venue featuring lots of fun attractions such as a mini theme park and community zoo. It is a hotspot for families, and we will be aiming for a fun campaign that appeals to this audience. Campaign FAQs As always, we will be learning as we go and testing the most effective ways to encourage correct recycling as we look to build an on-the-go recycling template that can be adopted widely across the UK. Live locally? Here’s a beginner’s guide to recycling on-the-go* in Telford Town Park: *Where possible, make sure to remember your reusables – the easiest way to reduce waste is to avoid it in the first place! Check out our campaign poster that you can share on your channels or display in-store: campaign 1-pager Want to get involved? The best thing you can do is spread the word on your channels using the #InTheLoop hashtag. Wherever you are, make sure to check your local recycling rules to make sure you’re getting it right, and if in doubt, keep it out. Wishful recycling (putting items in the recycling bin that you hope are recyclable or think should be) can mean the whole bag goes to waste! Where possible, use reusable water bottles and coffee cups to reduce the amount of materials you use. Remember: reduce, reuse, then recycle. Telford and Wrekin #InTheLoop is partnership between Hubbub and Telford & Wrekin Council, made possible thanks to a coalition of funders: Bunzl, Coca-Cola, Costa, Danone, Ecosurety, Highland Spring Group, Innocent, Nestlé and Starbucks.
