Manchester community project What are we doing? An exciting new campaign is in creation in Manchester, aiming to unlock the potential for Manchester residents to tackle the climate emergency. From Summer 2021, we’ll be trialling a series of positive, practical projects that will make it easier and more enjoyable to eat healthier, buy better, travel cleaner, live more affordably and power our homes more efficiently. This campaign will be community led, with lots of ways for people to get involved on the ground. We’ll be creating new spaces like community fridges and community gardens to bring people together, and sharing simple tips, hacks and all the great things already happening in Manchester to keep people inspired. We’ll be exploring how spending time in nature can help connect the huge issue of climate change to our everyday lives. Find out more in our blog ‘Can a closer relationship with nature encourage climate action?’ Why? More than half of us (55%) would like to see more happening in our local communities to tackle climate change but most of us are confused about the role we play, unclear about which actions will have the most impact, and concerned that change will be difficult. At Hubbub we believe that living in a way that is better for the environment, our families and our communities can be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re teaming up with Manchester Climate Change Agency and Manchester City Council to launch this pioneering new programme, engaging and empowering residents and communities on how they can take action.
