Jess Turnbull Fundraiser What's your main area of work at Hubbub? I lead our fundraising here at Hubbub, working with all the teams to secure the all important funds we need to launch new ideas, run creative campaigns, and scale successful pilots. What's your favourite campaign and why? It's hard to pick but if I had to it would be In Our Nature because it brings together people from all over Manchester and beyond and offers a variety of ways to help people live more sustainably, from urban greening to sharing surplus food, tech lending to trialling new innovations. It's a perfect example of Hubbub's approach meeting people where they are and creating playful and practical ways to help the environment and people. It also includes some of my other favourite campaigns, Community Fridges and Community Calling. Plus I'll never get over the brilliant simplicity of the Ballot Bin. Ok, that was definitley not just one but I've never been one to follow the rules 😉 What did life before Hubbub look like? Before Hubbub I spent 3 and a half years working at WWF (the World Wide Fund for Nature…I am not a wrestler). I had a couple of different roles whilst working there but spent most of the time developing corporate partnerships that transformed business, policy and civil society to support a world in which people and nature could thrive together. I loved my time there and it sparked a passion for sustainability that is so important to me. What else are you passionate about? Music and dancing…I'm not an expert in or particularly skilled at either but I love the way that music can make you feel all the feelings under the sun and how I can let go of all and any worries when I dance. Also food, cooking it, eating it, sharing it with friends! What would you eat if you only had one meal left? I'd probably have a buffet of all my favourite foods from around the world. That doesn't count as breaking the rule here, I just found a clever loophole! Who's your Eco crush? David Attenborough, AOC and all the young people taking action and standing up for their future.
