Before you get stuck into applying, please read our checklist below to make sure your group is eligible.

Who can apply?

Applicants need to be legally registered bodies and be able to provide a Registered Company/Charity Number. Your group and project need to be located within Manchester City Council. Check this list of wards, to make sure your area is included.

We can fund:

  • Non profit organisations such as voluntary, youth or community groups, resident groups, community associations, schools, and more.
  • Community Interest Companies and Social Enterprises*

*The fund is open to social enterprises that have a clear charitable mission, that can demonstrate the positive difference they are trying to make and which reinvest profits to further their social mission, and/or which, in a ‘wind-up’ situation, pass remaining assets on to another non-profit social enterprise that has a charitable purpose.

Sorry, we cannot fund:

  • For profit companies or projects where funds could be used for commercial benefit.
  • Party political organisations
  • Sole traders or individuals
  • Organisations and projects based outside of our funded wards.

What does my group need?

  • Two members of staff or volunteers who can liaise with Hubbub:
    -  A project lead contact. This is the person who will be responsible for delivery of the project and main point of contact for Hubbub.
    -  A secondary contact. Ideally this person should be someone in a senior position, e.g a trustee or director.
  • An up-to-date constitution, or equivalent governance document, that sets out your purpose and aims and objectives. This should be agreed and signed by your group’s board.
  • Its own bank account. The bank account needs to be in the name of your group. We’ll need to see evidence of this before we pay your grant.

  • The relevant policies and procedures in place, to ensure you can complete your project safely and responsibly. Here’s a list of what we require:
    - Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults policy
    - Health and safety policy - to include your Covid-19 safety plan (if relevant to the project that you're applying for funding for)

Anything else I should know?

Yes, successful applicants will be asked to:

  • Keep sufficient evidence of grant expenditure, which you may be asked to submit to Hubbub.
  • Measure their impact using an agreed evaluation framework and submit a 6-monthly and 12-monthly report. Don't worry, we will keep reporting light-touch and appropriate to the size of the grant.
  • Be open to sharing impact and learnings (good and bad) widely and openly with other groups.
  • Sharing their story on Hubbub’s website and social media channels, and potentially as a case study for media.
