Project Coordinator

What's your main area of work at Hubbub?

I am working on the national expansion of the community fridge network and the new food hub project.  I will be working within the team to collaborate with new corporate partners such as Co-op to develop projects such as the new Caboodle app.

What's your favourite campaign and why?

I am a big fan of the Community fridge Network; I’ve seen first hand how a hearty and simple solution, that is socially inclusive, can have a positive impact on communities. This allows communities to come together to be part of a global environmental challenge, saving food waste. I also really like greener together, community cycle and community calling.

What did life before Hubbub look like?
I worked with a charity running several projects to address the underlying antecedents of childhood obesity, making small environmental nudges within Waterloo’s footprint. Previous to this, I’ve worked in healthcare as a nutritionist, health and wellbeing coordinator, smoking cessation advisor, administrator, phlebotomist… I'm a healthcare all rounder!
Wanting to understand the wider determinants of poor health outcomes, I undertook a masters in Global public health and Nutrition
Through research looking into the impacts of Covid-19 on children's dietary habits, it became apparent that the need to increase the availability, accessibility and affordability of healthy, nutritious food in London was compounded by the pandemic. In search of a local solution in my area a parent recommended the Community fridge network. Enter, my first interaction with the CFN and Hubbub! This resulted in setting up two community fridges in Waterloo which are still going strong.
What else are you passionate about?
Campaigning for the Right to Food, in London, naionally and globally. I also like to participate in and/ or teach Zumba. I really enjoy running and walking outdoors. It has provided me with a great opportunity to see  London and further afield within the UK. I’m also passionate about food and particularly eating it… all of it.

What would you eat if you only had one meal left?
Would be sad to have only 1 meal left….but if you forced me, I’d revert to my home comforts; rice, daal and hummus or pasta with an array of cheeses.
Who's your Eco-crush?
Regina Keith and Sharon Noonan-gunning, who ensure that every decision around food, nutrition, health and the environment considers the voices of those who are most affected by the outcome.
