Student competition - design a DIY Halloween costume Calling all students and sewing enthusiasts. Design a DIY Halloween costume and you could win £200! Every Halloween we splash out on capes, fake blood and witches hats and every year £140 million worth of clothes end up in the bin. Scary right? This year we're linking up with North London Waste Authority to launch Sew Spooky, a fashion campaign encouraging people to make their own costumes instead of buying something new, and we need your help. Design a DIY Halloween costume We're looking for five replicable designs for Halloween costumes, with instructions on how to make them at home using materials you already have. The five selected designs will be used as part of the Halloween Sew Spooky campaign (watch this space!). The most creative and resourceful design will receive a £200 prize and four runners up will each receive £50. You may submit one or more design. Each design should be: of popular Halloween characters. for any or all ages. made from old clothes or things you can find around your home (cheap, easy to find materials). easy to replicate with only basic sewing skills with no equipment required. not take more than one hour for people to put together at home. Submit your designs by 13th October (deadline extended from 9th!) To enter, please send the following to [email protected] by Friday 13th October 2017: Your credit name, e-mail, contact number and school/college/university. A photograph of your design. A summary of materials you used. A step by step set of instructions for making your costume design. Designs will be judged by the Hubbub and North London Waste Authority and selected designs will be announced on Wednesday 18th October.
